Psychiatrist
                                     

Job Description:  Provide direct psychiatric care to agency clients, assure agency provides quality care to clientele, consultation to agency clinical staff.  As a member of the Clinic management team and Doctors Committee, reviews agency policies and procedures relating to quality of care. FT and PT positions available with option to work remote.

 

Responsibilities:    

Direct Care

         1. Provide psychiatric services as required under New York State Mental Health Law 14, Sections 579, and 585, for practice at                   Family Services Clinic, Southern Tier Integrated Recovery Oriented Services (STIRS), Adult Services, Family Services Jail                   Services or other Mental Health Programs provided by Family Services of Chemung County, Inc.

         2.  Psychiatric evaluations.  Interview clients, and review their medical and social histories

         3.   Diagnose clients

         4.   Review current medication effectiveness, appropriateness and side effects

         5.   Prescribe medications as necessary

         6.   Review treatment plans and recommend therapeutic approach

         7.   Collaborate with clients’ therapist, nurse or other agency mental health professionals.

         8.    Collaboration with Nurse Practitioners and supervision of Physician Assistants

         9. Maintain timely documentation as requested or required by regulation, agency procedures, insurance providers, court requests,               other medical providers to insure appropriate care of clients.

Administrative (as part of the clinic management team)

  1. Develop and evaluate protocols and procedures of the agency’s medical treatment.

  2. Provide review of agency emergencies and incidents with intent to assure quality of care.

  3. Ensure compliance of agency medical programs to Federal, State, and Local regulations.

  4. Provide consultation and training to clinical staff

  5. Develop organizational relationships with doctors and key personnel in other community service organizations.

 

Education/Certification:  New York Licensed Psychiatrist

Direct/Individual:             Conducts individual assessments and may meet with families and groups

Physical Demands:           Not applicable

Job Hazards:                    Minimal.  Some exposure to violent or acting out clients possible.
