Family Services of Chemung County is a well-established private not-for-profit 501(c)3 charitable organization, serving individuals and families in Chemung and surrounding counties since 1864. First incorporated as a hospital aid association and then as an orphans’ home, the agency has been known as Family Services of Chemung County since it’s most recent incorporation in 1974.
In the early 1960s, Family Services of Chemung County began providing mental health treatment services as an important step towards achieving its mission. In 1984, Chemung County government requested Family Services of Chemung County assume the role of the public New York State Office of Mental Health (NYS OMH) licensed outpatient Mental Health Clinic. From then to now, the agency has grown as unmet needs were identified.
