What is The Family Counseling Center?
Founded in 1994 by Family Services of Chemung County, Inc., The Family Counseling Center's state-licensed staff provides individual, family, couples and group counseling services to people throughout the Chemung County area. Our mission is to provide excellent, efficient and affordable counseling services.

How Does it work?
The Family Counseling Center uses a respectful, goal-oriented; even fun therapeutic model that focuses on your strengths and resources to help promote positive change. Our solution-focused approach usually requires fewer sessions than do traditional methods.
Where Do I Go?
We are conveniently located in downtown Elmira at 550 East Church Street (right next to St. Joseph's Hospital at the corner of Church and Madison Ave.) This is the "Dunn Building" which also houses St. Joseph's Apartments.

Appointments are confidential and are available days or evenings. Most sessions are 45 to 60 minutes..

Our Counseling Team
Marcia Hertzog, LCSW-R became the Program DIrector of the Family Counseling Center in 2009. In her role as Family Servicess EAP Program Director she has worked closely with the Family Counseling Center since it's inception in 1994. She is a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 25 years experience providing solution focused in family, individual, couples and group therapy.
Marcia brings extensive knowledge and experience of substance abuse treatment to the Family Counseling Center. She is acredentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor and is a Board Certified Diplomat in Clinical Social Work.
